Shit fuck. I damn near forgot this place existed. :|

(Though, honestly, I think I'd have an easier time if some of the things here were a bit more user-friendly.)

I've made my home over on Dreamwidth now and while I still read my LJ flist I really don't do much anywhere else. If you're on DW also, add me -- indubitableone. I'll add you back. My life isn't very interesting, though. My tweets get crossposted but shit if I write much. I work too much and lately my free time has been spent packing my life so I can move.

OKAY GUYS I FAIL. SORRY. D:

A) I haven't updated in forEVER.

[info]guiltyred and [info]yohjideranged, I am SO sorry for the delay in getting the rest of your Christmas thing out. I will be going to the post office FIRST THING tomorrow to mail it. It has been ready to go for weeks and weeks, and I have just forgotten it when I've gone to the post office.

It's hard to keep up with three different journaling sites. Only two of those actually involve reading of flists but omg. It's just hard, lol.

SO. I'M SORRY FOR FAILING GUYS. PLEASE FORGIVE ME. :)

I'm sure we all know how devastated Haiti is in the wake of the earthquake. I am currently unable to donate money myself because I'm broke, but.

Your Christmas gifts will not be mailed until after Christmas because I left part of it in Texarkana. Fail, self. I will get it when I go back in - but I'm not sure if I'm actually going to be able to go back in for Christmas itself or not, so it may be as late as the 2nd or so.

You will get them, though.

OH. And everyone in general.

I am knitting under the influence. I'm not sure if this was a good idea or not. LOL

Mana [userpic]
I just have to share this

I LEARNED HOW TO CABLE. FUCK YES.

I am making two hats from the same pattern that requires cabling (and maybe a scarf too), and I wasn't sure if I could do it. But it's really easy. Wow. How did I not learn this before?
Oh, yeah. Because it *looks* challenging, much like using DPNs.

Mana [userpic]
maybe-gigantic journal entry?

Okay. So. It's been a long time since I've legitimately updated this thing. *blows dust off*

I'm still working at Victoria's Secret but on the hunt for alternative work. I'm thinking I may go back to waiting tables. It's a thankless job, but it'll be good money. I did some math, and if I work 3 days a week, 8 hours each day, and have 24 tables in that time - if each table leaves me only $3 in tip, that's $72 a day in tips alone. That adds up to $216 a week, or $864 a month in just tips. Even if I only make $50 a day, that's $600 monthly in tips alone, which pays rent, water/trash and my phone bill.

I didn't get my paper for terrorism finished by its due date, unfortunately, due to a number of things. But Dr. H is incredible and has worked with me on getting it in - he's understanding about personal and computer issues, which is a LIFESAVER. I'm currently working on a research paper for capital punishment, that's due tomorrow. (I fail, okay?)

I still have a "B" average in social psych. In capital punishment I have accumulated 509 of possible 800 points - this is so far: the research paper, jury duty and our third test not accounted for yet. In terrorism, I don't know - I'm hoping that'll turn out to be an "A" but idk what it'll be for sure. Intro to social work, I'll probably end up with a "C" because I have not had time to do the volunteer work (it's hard to do when damn near every minute you're not in class you're working or doing homework)... and I'm hoping I can make a "C" in psych of learning so I only have to take 3 classes next spring. But I graduate in May! Yay!

Um. Romana is doing well. She has hairball issues. We're taking care of that though, got a comb for her. I've also changed her litter from the regular clay stuff to litter made from wheat, and I've noticed that I've heard her sneeze maybe twice in the last week. She's mostly stopped trying to scratch on the couch, which means she keeps her claws. XD

Uhm. Let me think. I went home for Halloween, and while there was talking to Michelle about how complicated my love life seems to have become. (No, really! At the time I was talking to two people and knew of two more who are interested in me.) But whilst discussing it I said I was talking to three people because apparently I can't count, and she was like, "WHO?" and I was like, "Andrew and Kelly... " and she was like, "WHO'S THE THIRD?" I was all, "IDEK TELL ME" so she goes, "Me!" Hahaha. And we were talking about it a few days after that, and I was like, "well... are we serious about this?" and what it comes down to - our relationship, as it is now, as it has been for the past four and a half or so years... it's kind of hard to explain. But we basically made it official that we've kind of been girlfriends for at least four years. XD
And Kelly and I decided things were official, and our date would be Halloween because that's easy to remember. (God, I'm so lame.)

But now. Now... I have a small dilemma. Andrew and I are still talking. And. How does one go about telling someone that you have two girlfriends but would still like to be his girlfriend, too? D:

That's such a bizarre question, isn't it!

... I don't know much else, I think. If I come up with anything, I'll post.

Mana [userpic]
just to warn you

will be making a huge dump of a post tonight or tomorrow, maybe monday night at the latest.

if there's been anything you want me to see from the last month, please link me.

i will be playing catch-up starting tonight - since my flist here is small (only ~20) i will be able to read back a month to catch up. sorry i fail. been ridic busy.

official Christmas post

Okay, so it's that time. I'm late! D:

If you'd like a card from me for Christmas drop your address here! (Those of you whose address I've had, I'm afraid I'll need it again. I've misplaced all of my addresses when I moved.)

I will have things in the mail by the 15th of next month.

:D

oh, yeah. all comments are screened.

Mana [userpic]

Wow. I am, not even going to lie, awful at updating. I have been incredibly fucking busy this term, between work and school.

Classes are going reasonably well, so far. I have an "A" average in capital punishment and intro to social work, a "B" in social psych and a "D" in psych of learning (but that's based off of only one grade). Terrorism? idk, really, there hasn't been much by way of written grades - but I am finishing my research paper for that. I was originally going to do propaganda + terrorism but OH MY GOD DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH INFORMATION THAT IS? So I changed it to just the IRA.

My working hours have picked up, so I have basically zero free time anymore. And I still can't pay my bills. However, I did wear my pride down and applied for food stamps - had that interview yesterday, and I'm approved for $200 a month until March, at which point I would have to recertify. I'm hoping that by then I won't need it anymore. I'll get the card for that later this week when I go back up to the office and have my fingerprints scanned, &c. - I didn't have time to yesterday because I had to get to work.

I am also looking at the local hospitals and seeing what they have available. I've applied for a couple of night-shift jobs, and need to go by and talk to the human resources people because while I'm not a CNA, I've been through 3 of 4 quarters of a LVN program and therefore have learned everything that a CNA does. Maybe I can get one of the hospitals to pay for me to take the certification exam and hire me. Because even at only $7.25/hr, three 12-hour shifts is not only more money, but is also more convenient with my schedule. And, let's be honest. Working in a hospital, you're almost always going to make more than minimum wage. And if I can get on a night shift, there's additional per-hour for shift differential because most people don't want to work nights. (And if this works out, I'm quitting VS in a hot minute.)

I never mentioned this, but cat is Romana now. Decided to stay Whovian with it. ;D She has some ear problems, unfortunately. And vets in Amarillo seem to be a lot more expensive than in Texarkana. Does it really vary that much by region? Cost of living otherwise is about the same between the two cities. But she has to suffer through at least monthly ear irrigations forever now, and I feel bad for her for it. But, that aside, she's quite well. She likes to play when I'm trying to go to sleep, without fail, and is pretty much completely lazy during my waking hours. Go figure. LOL

Uhm. I don't think there's anything else.

What have you all been doing while I've been failing at the internet? :D

BEN FUCKING FOLDS (crossposted)

Copypasta'd from fbook again, but with all pics instead of just one.
THIS ONE IS EVEN LONGER BECAUSE I GOT MORE PICS. Strangely, a good number of them are ass shots...
WARNING: MOAR BEN FOLDS PICSPAM AHEAD. Under a cut, because omg, there are too many to not.

So last night I drove to Wichita, KS, to see Ben Folds at the Cotillion. Long drive, kind of frustrating, I didn't get near enough sleep last night, but it's definitely worth it. ♥

We had to wait outside a while to get in because of security, and it was cold and started raining - which was no fun at all. But once I got through security and got my ticket, I went around and took up position in the crowd that had gathered at the stage. Being short, I was frustrated because there was no way I was going to be able to get pictures from my current position so I wormed my way much closer to the stage.

It was just Ben and his piano last night, which was different from the other two times I've seen him this summer, but at the same time, it felt - at least to me - a little more intimate a concert setting. I liked it.

Opening for him was this Australian singer named Kate Miller-Heidke. She's been classically trained but does alt-pop singing. She's super cute, and very talented. It was really interesting to hear operatic shit in the middle of an indie-alt-pop song! She talked about how she admires Ben and his music, particularly his covers... and then covered "Toxic". Yes, the Britney Spears song. Complete with operatic singing. And then she sang a couple more songs, was like, "Thank you, I'll be over here if you want to get a CD"... and we waited for Ben.

And so Ben came out, and started with Free Coffee. He played some songs, and talked to us, told us about "Eddie Walker" before he played it, and we sang part of Effington. And he did Jesusland, which always makes me smile because that song is epic.

A couple more songs, and he told us about his new album, which will come out in March maybe. He said his goal is to wrap up in November, and then three months of kissing ass and then it's released. And the ass-kissing is the best part. xD I didn't catch the name of the first of the new songs but the second he played is called "Levi Johnston's Blues" - and it tells a story about the kid who knocked up Bristol Palin.

Then he got Kate to come back out on the stage, and they sang together. Ben sang some song about Kate in her red dress, and then they sang together. And then they did "You Don't Know Me" and Kate sang Regina Spektor's part. Ben also brought out two of his cameras because he's been doing a photoshoot of Kate's tour with him, crazy stuff like the excellent to the bad, &c.

After Kate left the stage a second time Ben did "Kate" and "Still Fighting It". And then "Bastard". Before he started playing "Bastard", though, he got up and told us that he doesn't do this song live very often, and he's done this five-part harmony thing once before with not-so great results, but since we'd been singing so well he thought he'd try it again. So he did, and it went well. It was a lot of fun! "Bastard" is one of my favourite songs by him, so I was excited he played it - he didn't in Fayetteville OR Chicago.

Then, he played a few more songs and then told us that he tried to go to this one place for breakfast but the line was too long, so they went somewhere else. And he noticed that nothing was open. So he did an ad-libbed/bullshitted song about how nothing is open on Sunday in Wichita, and as a result I decided to call it "Sunday in Wichita" for lack of anything else to call it. It was pretty funny.

He played "Dr. Yang", which he said he wasn't sure worked on just piano, but I think it turned out all right anyways. And then he did a piano cover of "Such Great Heights", which was really good! And, let's be honest, that I'm saying that is worth something because that song tends to annoy me for being overplayed.

For "Not The Same", he added a fourth soprano part to the three-part harmony, and as we were doing it before he started playing the song some people were off, and he said, "Stop fucking it up!" And then he played the song, telling us that he'd try to help the fourth soprano part remember their notes. After this, he left the stage. And everyone was going crazy, to get him back on the stage.

So he came back and did "The Luckiest", "Army" and "Rockin' The Suburbs" for an encore.

I tried to find him afterwards to get a victory picture. --Wait, what? Okay, it's like this. I tweeted to him that I planned to find him and challenge him to a piano duel, and he replied and said that his soundman could beat him in a piano duel so I might have to take him on instead. Someone who I've become friends with through Twitter because we're both Folds fans (among other things) told me that I should get a victory picture because I won the duel. xD

But I didn't find him, and then security was like "IF YOU'RE NOT BUYING SHIT LEAVE" so I had to leave and drive home. Also, I ended up with like 30 ass shots of Ben, but that's just what happened because that's where I was in the audience and I'm short.

The end.

BPAL XD

It all came in yesterday. XD

Lord Ruthven: The father of all dandy aristocrat vampires: Aqua Admirabilis with polished boot leather and blood.
Sarah: Unholy mist congealing into soft, white flesh, with black marble, remnants of liturgical incense, wolf's fur, and black flecks of froth.

Imps:
Al-Shairan: His scent is fiery, bright and thick with sweet sinfulness: clove, peach and orange with cinnamon, patchouli and dark incense notes.
The Apothecary: Tea leaf with three mosses, green grass, a medley of herbal notes, and a drop of ginger and fig.
Baobhan Sith: Grapefruit, white tea, apple blossom and ginger.
Dragon's Blood: Powerful, commanding, blazing with strength.
Mad Hatter: A gentlemen's lavender-citron cologne unhinged by the feral pungence of black musk and a paroxysm of pennyroyal.
Midnight: Evening primrose, ruellia, flowering nicotiana, wild petunia, panani-o-kai, night phlox, night gladiolus, moonflower and the elusive scent of Nottingham Catchfly.
Pain: Wicked and vicious! A sharp, cruel blend of lavender and pennyroyal.
Scherezade: A master storyteller who possessed unfailing courage and compassion, a sharp, quick wit, and a true understanding of human nature. Saffron and Middle Eastern spices swirled through sensual red musk.
The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil: Whiffs of cinnamon bark, almond, and spikenard surround a perfect fruit, whose scent is akin to a tamarind, with the grace of a fine grape, as warm and rich as a fresh fig, glistening red like pomegranate seeds, and as crisp as an apple.
Veil: White sandalwood, lilac, gardenia, violet, orris, lavender and ylang ylang.
Yemaya: Her ofrenda is a bounty of melons and grapes, strewn with the petals of the flowers of motherhood, draped with sea mosses.
Zombi: Dried roses, rose leaf, Spanish moss, oakmoss and deep brown earth.

And they smell amazing! Except Midnight doesn't really smell like anything to me. Weird.

I am such a nerd

So for terrorism we have this research paper that we're writing. Its minimum is 15 pages.

Yesterday in class we watched a video called "The Third Jihad" and I borrowed it from Dr. H to rewatch because it'll be useful for my paper.

When I brought it back to him today, we talked about the papers and class for a couple of minutes and he basically gave me the go-ahead to write 50-60 pages if I need that many.

I'M SO EXCITED. THIS PAPER IS GOING TO BE EPIC.

Mana [userpic]
hm. ink things.

Apparently I never posted the Part One of my Graveyard Book tattoo over here. I thought I did. Oh well.

It's done now! I am quite happy with it.
